About our Founder

Hilton Thompson (she/her) is an experienced event and marketing professional with 10+ years of event management and content marketing experience. Hilton comes to Folks Events from her role as Head of Events at Zinnia, where she and her team provided unparalleled offsite experiences for teams looking to grow closer and cultivate deeper working relationships. Prior to Zinnia, Hilton spent 5 years at Atlanta Tech Village as Head of Marketing and Events. She still works closely with the team at Atlanta Tech Village while managing their Women + Tech program.

Hilton has planned weddings in Atlanta and Athens for 5+ years, planned her own wedding in Joshua Tree California and has even officiated a wedding or two along the way.

Hilton serves as President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Period Project where they work to provide access to menstrual hygiene products to people in need.  When she isn’t planning events, you can find Hilton growing flowers, hanging with her dogs, or fly fishing with her husband.
